Patton Custodial are New Zealand’s preeminent institutional experts, specialising in the manufacture of leading-edge furniture and equipment for correctional and secure facilities across the country – including prisons, police stations, courthouses, care homes and more.
From complete cell fit outs to steel fixtures and fittings, we are officially licensed to manufacture prison doors for the New Zealand Corrections System, and we understand that these environments demand exceptional durability, safety and security. We recognise that correctional facilities require a higher standard of design and engineering than conventional projects, and through the Patton Group, we have a proven reputation for manufacturing products that perform beyond expectations, even under the most demanding circumstances.

Here’s who you will be working with at Patton Custodial:
GREG KIDD
GENERAL MANAGER
Who better to take the helm of Patton Custodial than steel industry stalwart – Greg Kidd. With over 26 years in the steel industry, Greg has earned his stripes in a variety of positions, from key account to branch management, and regional management to national roles.
Following on from 13 years at Easysteel – a division of the Fletcher Building Group, Greg has spent the last 13 years with Steel & Tube. Most recently as National Projects Manager, and prior to that as the Lower North Island Regional Manager. He sees his key skills as Sales and Operational management, relationship, and project management, and takes a customer centric approach to business, taking pride in delivering value to each and every stakeholder. An approach that fits in well with the Patton Group ethos of customer first.
A keen, (but in his own words) average, hunter and fisherman, Greg is married to Steff, with 3 children. When he’s not nutting out specialist steel solutions, Greg is an avid follower of all things rugby and is a staunch Magpies supporter.
DAN SIMONS
WORKSHOP FOREMAN
Dan is a passionate designer and fabricator with a focus in architecture and product design.
After working for 5 years in the construction industry in France, he started his engineering journey in New Zealand working for 10 years on custodial projects nationwide.
This led to a career in high end design, fabrication and fitting, working on some of Hawkes Bays top architectural projects.
He now lives happily in CHB with his wife and two young boys
JOHNO WILLIAMS
MANAGING DIRECTOR
Johno brings broad engineering experience, sound technical knowledge and a practical, solutions-focused approach to mechanical, structural and surface protection projects.
Johno plays a key role in supporting growth across the companies in the Patton Group, while remaining closely involved in day-to-day operations. With a strong understanding of the business and its capabilities, Johno helps connect people, projects and opportunities with confidence, clarity and hands-on expertise.
ANDREW BURN
DIRECTOR
Andrew has been in the Engineering industry for the last 32 years, having served his time in the UK. Upon returning home Andrew spent a few years in the rail yards in Lower Hutt before returning to Hawke’s Bay, working at a couple of smaller engineering companies before settling down at Patton Engineering.
Andrew has been at Patton Engineering for the last 24 years where he is the Workshop Manager, an AS 2214 qualified Welding Inspector and an active member of our Welding Co-Ordination Team. Andrew ranks as one of our best welders and is a font of welding knowledge. Andrew is methodical and provides direction and organisation to an ever-changing and busy working environment. Andrew’s can-do approach regularly ensures tight delivery lead-times are met.
WE HAVE TECHNICAL EXPERTISE
Comprehensive knowledge and a proven reputation for designing quality products that meet the safety standards required for this specialised market. We have proven experience in producing door solutions for the Department of Corrections, Ministry of Justice and Police. We have specialist technicians to install all equipment and furniture on site and can provide complete cell packages.
